11.45

杭州護國菩提志專禪師。僧問。遠離嘉禾勝境已屆海昌道場。如何是不動尊。師曰。此去嘉禾不遠。云恁麼則往來無際。師曰。靈利衲僧。僧便喝。師曰。棒上不成龍。乃曰。說即天地懸殊。不說即眼睫裏藏身。眉毛上𨁝跳。說與不說拈放一邊。舉拄杖云。且道這箇是什麼。良久曰。晝月冷光現。卓地計初成。卓一下下座。

Chan Master Zhizhuan of Bodhi Huguo in Hangzhou. A monk asked, "Having departed from the superior region of Jiahe, I have already arrived at the Haichang bodhimaṇḍa. What is the Immovable Honoured One?" The Master said, "From here to Jiahe is not far." [The monk] said, "In that case, coming and going is without limit." The Master said, "A clever patch-robed monk." The monk then shouted. The Master said, "Beneath the stick, one does not become a dragon." He then said, "To speak of it is as distant as heaven and earth; not to speak of it is to hide the body within the eyelashes and jump about upon the eyebrows. Setting aside speaking and not speaking—" He raised his staff and said, "Tell me, what is this?" After a long pause, he said, "The cold light of the daytime moon appears; / tapping the ground, the plan is first achieved." He struck once and stepped down from the seat.
