12.14

鼎州德山仁繪禪師。僧問。如何是不動尊。師曰。來千去萬。曰恁麼則脚跟不點地也。師曰。却是汝會。上堂。至道無難唯嫌揀擇但莫憎愛洞然明白。山僧即不然。至道最難須是揀擇。若無憎愛爭見明白。

Chan Master Deshan Renhui of Dingzhou: A monk asked, "Who is the Immovable Honored One?" The master said, "A thousand come, ten thousand go." [The monk] said, "If so, then the heels do not touch the ground." The master said, "Indeed, you understand." He ascended the hall: "'The Great Way is without difficulty, it only loathes picking and choosing; only without hatred and love is it thoroughly clear.' This mountain monk is not like that: The Great Way is most difficult, one must pick and choose. If there were no hatred and love, how could it be seen clearly?"
