12.21

襄州鳳皇山乾明廣禪師上堂。日頭東畔出。月向西邊沒。來去急如梭。催人成白骨。山僧有一法堪為保命術。生死不相干。打破精魂窟。咄咄咄是何物。不是眾生不是佛。參。

Chan Master Guang of Qianming on Mount Fenghuang in Xiangzhou ascended the hall: "The sun rises in the east; / The moon sinks in the west. / Coming and going, swift as a shuttle, / Hurrying people on to become white bones. / This mountain monk has a Dharma / Worthy to be an art for preserving life: / Birth and death have nothing to do with it; / It smashes the den of the refined soul. / Bah, bah, bah! What thing is it? / It is not a sentient being, nor is it a Buddha. / Investigate!"
