南嶽西林崇奧禪師。僧問。一問一答賓主歷然。不問不答。如何辨別。師曰。坐底坐立底立。曰便恁麼會時如何。師曰。舌拄上齶。僧禮拜。師曰。不得諱却。

Chan Master Xilin Cong'ao of Nanyue. A monk asked, 'One question and one answer: host and guest are distinct. When there is no question and no answer, how is it distinguished?' The master said, 'Those sitting, sit; those standing, stand.' The monk said, 'How is it when one understands it just like that?' The master said, 'The tongue presses against the upper palate.' The monk bowed. The master said, 'You must not disown it.'
