13.58

杭州南院清禪師。僧問。西祖傳來請師通信。師曰。汝道傳什麼來。僧云。恁麼則不通信去也。師曰。不妨伶利。

Chan Master Qing of Nanyuan in Hangzhou. A monk asked, "The Western Patriarch transmitted [the Dharma] here; please, Master, send news of it." The Master said, "Tell me, what did he transmit?" The monk said, "If so, then I shall not send news of it." The Master said, "You are indeed clever enough."
