泗州普照寺處虛真寂禪師。滁州趙氏子。開堂日僧問。世尊出世地湧金蓮。和尚出世有何祥瑞。師曰。掃却門前雪。

Chan Master Chuxu Zhenji of Puzhao Monastery in Sizhou was a son of the Zhao clan of Chuzhou. On the day he opened the hall, a monk asked, "When the Bhagavat appeared in the world, golden lotuses welled up from the earth. When the Upādhyāya appears in the world, what auspicious sign is there?" The master said, "Sweeping away the snow before the gate."
