福州鼓山體淳禪鑒禪師。上堂。由基弓矢不射田蛙。任氏絲綸要投溟渤。發則穿楊破的。得則修鯨巨鰲。隻箭既入重城。長竿豈釣淺水。而今莫有吞鉤齧鏃底麼。若無。山僧卷起絲綸拗折弓箭去也。擲拄杖下座。

Chan Master Tichun Chanjian of Mount Gushan in Fuzhou ascended the hall. "The bow and arrow of Yang Youji do not shoot field frogs; the fishing line of Master Ren seeks to cast into the vast ocean. When released, it pierces the willow leaf and shatters the target; when caught, it is the giant whale and the great turtle. Once a single arrow has pierced deep walls, how could a long fishing pole angle in shallow waters? Right now, is there anyone who swallows the hook and bites the arrowhead? If not, this mountain monk will reel in the fishing line, break the bow and arrows, and be off." Throwing down his staff, he stepped down from his seat.
