南嶽衡嶽寺振禪師示眾曰。阿呵呵。瘦松寒竹鎖清波。有時獨坐磐陀上。無人共唱太平歌。朝看白雲生洞口。暮觀明月照娑婆。有人問我居山事。三尺杖子攪黃河。

Chan Master Zhen of Hengyue Temple on the Southern Sacred Peak instructed the assembly: "A-ha-ha! / Slender pines and cold bamboo lock in the clear waves. / Sometimes I sit alone upon a boulder; / There is no one to sing the song of great peace with me. / In the morning I watch white clouds arise from the cave entrance; / In the evening I observe the bright moon shine upon the sahā world. / If someone asks me about living in the mountains: / A three-foot staff stirs the Yellow River."
