郢州興陽山遜禪師。僧問。如何是佛。師曰。髮白面皺。曰如何是法。師曰。暑往寒來。問如何是三界外事。師曰。洛陽千里餘。不得舊時書。

Chan Master Xun of Mount Xingyang in Yingzhou. A monk asked, "What is the Buddha?" The Master said, "White hair and wrinkled face." The monk asked, "What is the Dharma?" The Master said, "Summer goes and winter comes." The monk asked, "What is the matter beyond the three realms?" The Master said, "Luoyang is more than a thousand miles away; I have not received letters from old times."
