寧國府光孝惟爽禪師上堂。今朝六月旦。一年已過半。奉報參玄人。識取娘生面。娘生面薦不薦。鷺鷥飛入碧波中。抖擻一團銀繡練。

Chan Master Weishuang of Guangxiao in Ningguo Prefecture ascended the hall: "Today is the first day of the sixth month; half the year has already passed. I respectfully inform those who investigate the mystery: recognize your original face born of your mother! Your face born of your mother—do you realize it or not? An egret flies into the jade-green waves, shaking out a single roll of embroidered silver silk."
