衢州超化靜禪師上堂。聲前認得已涉廉纖。句後承當猶為鈍漢。電光石火猶在遲疑。點著不來橫屍萬里。良久云。有甚用處。咄。

Chan Master Jing of Chaohua in Quzhou ascended the hall: 'Recognizing it before the voice is already entangled in trivialities. Taking it up after the phrase is still that of a dullard. In the flash of lightning or spark of flint, one is still hesitating. If one cannot catch the cue, corpses will lie strewn across ten thousand miles.' After a long pause, he said, 'What use is there? Bah!'
