24.21

泉州九座慧邃禪師上堂。九座今日向孤峯絕頂。駕一隻鐵船。截斷天下人要津。教他揮篙動棹。不得有箇錦標子。且道在甚麼人手裏。拈拄杖曰。看看向道是龍剛不信。等閑奪得始驚人。

Chan Master Jiuzuo Huisui of Quanzhou ascended the hall and said, 'Today Jiuzuo steers an iron boat toward the solitary peak's absolute summit, cutting off the vital fords of the people of the world, making them wield their poles and move their oars without being able to capture the brocade banner. And tell me, into whose hands does it fall?' Holding up his staff, he said, 'Look, look! When told it was a dragon they stubbornly refused to believe it; only when seized effortlessly does it startle people.'
