24.57

婺州承天仲顏禪師。僧問。梵王請佛蓋為群生。今日使君請師當為何事。師曰。大眾知有恩僧云。恁麼則人天交接去也。師曰。不妨具眼。

Chan Master Zhongyan of Chengtian in Wuzhou. A monk asked: 'When King Brahmā requested the Buddha, it was entirely for the multitude of sentient beings. Today the regional governor has invited you, Master; what should it be for?' The master said: 'The great assembly knows there is benevolence.' The monk said: 'In that case, humans and devas come into communion.' The master said: 'Indeed, you possess the eye.'
