隨州洞山辯禪師上堂。不是心不是佛不是物。鑽天子鷂遼天鶻。不度火不度水不度爐。離弦箭發沒回途。直饒會得十分去。笑倒西來碧眼胡。

Chan Master Bian of Dongshan in Suizhou ascended the hall: "It is not mind, it is not Buddha, it is not a thing—a sky-piercing falcon, a sky-crossing hawk. It does not cross through fire, it does not cross through water, it does not cross through a furnace—an arrow loosed from the bowstring has no path of return. Even if you understand it completely, you will make the blue-eyed barbarian who came from the West double over in laughter."
