福州東禪祖鑑從密禪師。汀州人也。上堂。開口不是禪。合口不是道。踏步擬進前。全身落荒草。

Chan Master Zujian Congmi of Dongchan in Fuzhou was a native of Tingzhou. Ascending the hall, [he said]:
'Opening the mouth is not Chan;
Closing the mouth is not the Way.
Taking a step intending to move forward,
The whole body falls into wild grass.'
