The Emperor said, "No matter." They then walked to the front of the Sangha Hall and entered the Sangha Hall. The Master went ahead to the abbot's quarters to burn incense. The Emperor arrived at the abbot's quarters, and the Master performed the greeting ritual. The Emperor first viewed the Buddha's tooth relic bestowed on Nengren Temple in the capital by Emperor Taizu; the Emperor held it with both hands to his forehead and paid reverence. The Master presented the historical records of the Buddha's tooth. Arriving at the Yixiao Veranda of Yu'an Hall, they read the letter sent with Dharma robes by Dahui Zonggao when he arrived in Meiyang, which said: "Upāsaka Chaoran is a person within this realm; fearing that there might be some place he has not yet reached, you should consult with him."
