28.65

上觀釋迦出山相。奏曰。此吳道子畫。師亦讀所題贊曰。大哉釋迦文。福聚海無量。此地少硃砂。赤土也為上。我今稽首禮讚揚。留與人天作榜樣。

The Emperor viewed the painting of Śākyamuni Coming out of the Mountain. [The Master] memorialized, "This was painted by Wu Daozi." The Master also read the verse of praise he had written: / 'Great indeed is Śākyamuni Muni! / His ocean of accumulated blessings is measureless. / Cinnabar is scarce in this land, / so red clay is taken as superior. / Now I bow my head, pay homage, and praise him, / leaving him as a model for humans and devas.'
