上復問。前日在此閤靜坐。忽然思得向時所舉不與萬法為侶。只這不與萬法為侶也大奇。朕從這裏有箇見處。師奏曰。不與萬法為侶。陛下作麼生會。

His Majesty asked again, "The other day, sitting quietly in this chamber, I suddenly recalled what was brought up in the past: 'Not making companions with the ten thousand dharmas.' Just this 'not making companions with the ten thousand dharmas' is extraordinary indeed! From this, We have attained an insight." The Master memorialized, saying, "'Not making companions with the ten thousand dharmas'—how does Your Majesty understand it?"
