Chan Master Guiyun Ruoben of Shushan in Fuzhou was a native of Taizhou. Ascending the hall: "Prolonged rain does not clear up; wu lies in bing and ding. Covered head to toe in mud and water, the eyes are exposed. But tell me: what kind of eyes are they?" Striking his staff, he said, "In the forest, the mud is so slick; from time to time it cries out two or three calls."
