Chan Master Longxing Zhichuan of Tanzhou. A monk asked, "Having dwelt long in Huxiang, I intend to put forward a question. Will the Master answer it?" The Master said, "Why drag through mud and water?" The monk then shouted. The Master said, "A spell of rain, a spell of coolness." The monk bowed. The Master said, "A head without a tail." During the Zhiping era, the Master showed his passing. Wherever he had walked, stood, sat, or reclined throughout his life, relics welled up everywhere. Whenever Chan followers received his clothing and utensils at auctions, relics were produced daily. When there were those who prayed with utmost sincerity before his portrait, a response was manifested in accordance with their thought.
