2.64

尊者付其法已。遽起本座卓然而立。現大神變。自其腹發異光八道照曜大眾。而被其照者僅五百人。獲第二果。乃般涅槃。其時當此周景王之世也。眾遂即其所建寶塔。以閟其全體。

Having entrusted the Dharma, the Venerable One abruptly rose from his seat and stood tall. Manifesting great spiritual transformations, he emitted eight rays of wondrous light from his abdomen, illuminating the great assembly. Those illuminated by it numbered nearly five hundred, who all attained the second fruition. He then entered parinirvāṇa. This took place during the reign of King Jing of Zhou. The assembly then erected a precious stūpa at that site to enshrine his whole body.
