He further said to Deva, "Transmitting and upholding it well, do not allow it to be cut off. In a future age, you shall greatly promote the Buddha-work." Afterward, he soared into the great void, entered the moon-disc samādhi, displayed great spiritual transformations, and returning to his seat, entered the concentration of extinction. After seven days, the heavens rained down relics, and the Great Being arose again from concentration, pointed his finger to the sky, and said to the assembly, "These relics were brought about by the three vows previously made by the disciple of the ancient Kanakamuni Buddha named the Venerable Mahāka. The first was: 'May it be that when I become a Buddha, if there is a noble person converting beings in the world, whenever the heavens pour down rain upon his body, it will become relics.' The second was: 'May it be that the things produced by heaven and earth are all fit to be medicine to cure the illnesses of sentient beings.' The third was: 'May it be that all those who possess wisdom attain subtlety in what they know, so as to penetrate past lives.'" Having spoken, he remained in serene and great extinction. At that time, it was the era of the First Emperor of Qin. Deva and his fourfold assembly then erected a stūpa to enshrine him.
