3.56

復曰。此偈蓋妙音。如來見性清淨之說。汝宜受持。夜多再禮奉教。大士即其座上以指爪𠢐面。如紅蓮開。出大光明照曜四眾。乃趣寂滅。其時當此王莽新室之世也。闍夜多即其處建塔而供養之。

He further said: 'This verse is indeed the teaching of the pure vision of the nature of the Tathāgata's Wondrous Sound. You should accept and uphold it.' Jayata bowed twice and respectfully received the teaching. Thereupon, from upon his seat, the Mahāsattva scratched his face with his fingernails like a red lotus opening, emitting great light that illuminated the fourfold assembly, and then passed into utter extinction. That time corresponded to the era of Wang Mang’s Xin dynasty. Jayata erected a stūpa at that place and made offerings to it.
