Having entrusted the Dharma, the Venerable One reflected that he had long engaged in converting and guiding beings, that what was to be transformed was now accomplished, and that he should rest himself through the samādhi of cessation. Thereupon he entered parinirvāṇa. The gods all made music in offering, surging through the void. This took place during the reign of King Jing of Zhou. Bhikṣu Pārśva then cremated him with fragrant firewood, collected his relics, and erected a precious stūpa at Nālandā Monastery.
