第十一祖富那夜奢。花氏國人。姓瞿曇氏。生有道性。自知當遇聖師。及脇尊者至其國。乃詣其法會。語論相契。即從之出家。得道遊化至波羅奈國。得馬鳴為之弟子。然正合佛記。及臨入滅。乃以法付之。說偈曰。

The Eleventh Patriarch, Puṇyayaśas, was a man of the country of Pāṭaliputra, of the Gautama clan. Born with a virtuous nature, he knew of himself that he would meet a holy master. When the Venerable Pārśva arrived in his country, he went to his Dharma assembly. Their conversation and discussion were in harmony, and he immediately followed him to leave home. Attaining the Way, he traveled and transforming reached the country of Vārāṇasī, where he met Aśvaghoṣa and took him as a disciple, which precisely coincided with the Buddha's prophecy. Approaching his entry into extinction, he transmitted the Dharma to him, speaking a verse, saying:
