3.10

During the Daye era of the Sui, a prison guard in Jingzhao Commandery, whose name has been lost, treated the prisoners with extreme cruelty. The prisoners could not endure the agony, but the guard took it as amusement. Later, a son was born to him who, beneath his chin and above his shoulders, had something like a fleshy cangue, having no neck at all. At several years of age, he could not walk, and died.
