慈悲寺僧神昉。少小已來聽學十輪經。精勤苦行特異常人。著糞掃衣。六時禮懺。乞食為業。每講十輪經。常說眾生不合讀誦大乘經。讀誦者墮地獄。畢至命終時。生身被地獄火燒。傍身有黑烟氣。于時濟法寺僧思簡。親見此事信知。斷學般若必有惡徵見身立驗。

The monk Shenfang of Cibei Monastery had listened to and studied the *Daśacakra-sūtra* from his youth onward, and his diligent austerities were especially uncommon. He wore robes of rags, paid homage and repented during the six periods of the day, and took begging for food as his vocation. Whenever he lectured on the *Daśacakra-sūtra*, he would regularly say: 'Sentient beings ought not to read and chant Mahāyāna sūtras; those who read and chant them will fall into hell.' In the end, when his life came to a close, his living body was burned by the fires of hell, and black smoky vapor surrounded his body. At that time, the monk Sijian of Jifa Monastery personally witnessed this matter and came to know with certainty that cutting off the study of prajñā will inevitably have evil omens, bringing verification directly in this present body.
