During the Tang dynasty, when Cihe Hall in Zhexi was being rebuilt, the leveling of the ground was troubled by earthworms burrowing holes. A monk taught them that pouring lime water over it would eliminate them. Consequently, countless earthworms were killed. Not long after, the monk suddenly developed itchy sores over his body; his skin and flesh completely rotted away, and he died. (Ledger of Merits and Transgressions)
