昔如來在世之時有天人。來下祇洹精舍。佛為說四諦法。得法眼淨。阿難問佛。佛言。須達居士。造精舍已。遣一人奴。拂寺庭掃除道路。乘此善根。生忉利天。來下聽法。得法眼淨也。

Formerly, when the Tathāgata was in the world, a deva descended to Jetavana vihāra. The Buddha taught him the Dharma of the Four Noble Truths, and he attained the purity of the Dharma eye. Ānanda asked the Buddha [about it], and the Buddha said: “After the householder Sudatta built the vihāra, he dispatched a slave to sweep the monastery courtyard and clear the roads. Availing himself of this root of goodness, he was reborn in Trāyastriṃśa Heaven; he has descended to listen to the Dharma and has attained the purity of the Dharma eye.”
