昔尊者夜周多。歸於舊里。父母故宅地。建立佛精舍。尊者夜分有百千天子。來下供養精舍。尊者知而問天子言。我是汝父母。以惡業故墮地獄。汝出家日生天。於古宅地。建立精舍。時自宮殿動搖。光明倍勝。以見此事故。來供養也。

Formerly, the Venerable Yezhoutuo returned to his old village and built a Buddhist vihāra on the site of his parents' former residence. During the night, hundreds of thousands of devaputras descended to make offerings to the vihāra. The Venerable, knowing [the reason], asked the devaputras, who said: “We were your parents. Due to bad karma, we fell into hell. On the day you left household life, we were born in heaven. When you built a vihāra on the site of our old residence, our palaces shook and their brilliance doubled. Having seen this event, we have come to make offerings.”
