1.59

唐邊州有貧人。孤獨自活。家內唯有一文銅錢。女人思惟。此錢不可為一生資糧。當供佛像。即往伽藍。供養藥師靈像。經七日住隣縣有富家。其婦頓死。更求他女。良久不得隨情。更祈請同寺像。夢所感以彼孤女為婦。共得福壽。生三男二女。皆謂佛力矣。

In the Tang, in a border prefecture, there was a poor woman who lived alone. In her house there was only one copper coin. The woman reflected, “This coin cannot serve as the provisions for a lifetime; I should offer it to a Buddha image.” She immediately went to a saṅghārāma and made an offering to a wondrous image of Bhaiṣajyaguru. After she had stayed for seven days, in a neighbouring county there was a wealthy household whose wife suddenly died. Seeking another woman, [the widower] could not find one to his satisfaction for a long time. He prayed to the image in that same temple, and through a dream response he took that destitute woman as his wife. Together they attained fortune and longevity, and bore three sons and two daughters. All attributed this to the Buddha's power.
