When Emperor Wu of the Chen passed away, his nephew Qian succeeded to the imperial throne. When constructing the imperial hearse, he took the jade pendants and pearls from the Chongyun Hall of Emperor Wu of the Liang to adorn it. When the manpower for the funeral procession was assembled in great numbers, arriving simultaneously from all four directions, clouds suddenly gathered and coiled, drifting and encircling the Buddha hall. In the other directions to the left, it remained clear and the sun shone brightly. In a brief moment, torrential rain poured down, with thunder and lightning roaring. Smoke spread outside the hall, and fires flared within the clouds, their flowing gleams and scattered flames linking above and below. One could see the form of the Chongyun Hall, along with the two gold and silver statues, the eight classes of divine kings, and the canopies and seats, all rising simultaneously into the air. Flanked by smoke and flame, they abruptly vanished into the distance. The spectators included the entire capital. After the weather cleared, they returned to look at the original site, and only the foundation stones remained. After more than a month, someone coming from the eastern commanderies reported: 'On that day, I saw the image of the hall flying through the air over the sea.' Those who gaze upon the sea still catch sight of it from time to time.
