Before the peaks and beneath the forest stand the East and West temples; / From the corners of the earth and the ends of the sky, monks come and go. / Springs and stones quietly flow in an unhurried world; / Clouds and pines are cold and damp around the daylight incense lamps. / How can anything compare to a great being reviving the society? / There surely must be various worthies to take it to heart once more. / Once I lodged in an adjacent cell, hanging up my water-bottle and staff, / Listening to the loud rush of the crag's runoff thawing the spring ice.
