From the Jin, Song, Qi, Liang, Chen, Sui, and Tang dynasties down to the present dynasty, Mount Lu has seen nearly eight hundred years. During this time, records were kept of its decline and revival, its flourishing and decay, but as months and years stretched on, many were lost. For instance, the stele for Master Yuan composed by Yin Zhongkan was still seen in a poem by Guanxiu during the Tianyou era, yet today no trace remains. Herein are recorded the stelae, records, official ranks, native places, and dates composed by individuals before the Five Dynasties across five temples and abbeys from Taiping and Donglin downwards—forty-one in total. Most of their texts are omitted.
