South of Goulou Peak, just to the left of the Hengyang road below. During the Yongming era of the Qi, the Daoist masters Xu Sixian and Zhang Zhitang opened the mountain. By the Liang, Zhou Jingzhen served as abbot; Emperor Wu took him as his master. Cloud-and-water wanderers flocked to him, all of them extraordinary people from beyond the seas. The lecture hall was bustling like a marketplace, and not a single day was spent in vain. The emperor bestowed the name Puxian. Coming to the Tang, Master Chen Faming resided there cultivating practice. Because he presented a qilin, he was summoned into the palace; declining honor and favor, he begged to return to the mountain and was enfeoffed as Master Wuzhen. In the first year of the Xuanhe era of our present dynasty, the name Chongzhen was bestowed.
