South of Shilin Peak, fifteen li ascending the mountain from the Temple. It was first built in the Yongxing era of the Qi. Realized Man Chen's taboo name was Huidu; he was a man of Yingchuan. At first he resided on Mount Mao, gathering wondrous herbs, buying and trading them, drinking wine and fasting from grain for several years. Wandering south, he carried two bamboo hampers entirely filled with ores and stones. Arriving at Nanyue, he chose its secluded beauty, swore an oath to Heaven, and refined the elixir. In the deep of night, he was harassed in the broken hut: three times the elixir furnace was overturned, and stones were hurled to crush him. He merely settled his mind on a coiled rock, reciting the *Yellow Court Scripture* and wearing the *Chart of the True Form of the Five Sacred Peaks*. His resolve grew ever more reverent; in secret there was a spiritual resonance, and the power of the Dao silently aided him, enabling him to seize the sprites and spirits. The demonic qi gradually dispersed; trembling with fear, the ghosts wailed mournfully. The Realized Man ordered them to erect stones and pledge an oath in order to escape slaughter; their ghostly forms were banished far beyond the local borders. Later, the elixir was perfected; its radiant vapors filled the mountain, illuminating near and far. Later, he ingested it and soared into the sky on the thirteenth day of the fifth month of the third year of the Yongming era. In the first year of the Chonghe era, Emperor Huizong bestowed upon him the title of Realized Man Chongxu Yuanmiao. Today on the site of the abbey are the Elixir Terrace, the Ghost-Planted Stones, the Thunder Deep and Wind Cave, the Scripture-Recitation Altar, and the Elixir Spring. In recent times a monk founded a monastery on the site of the abbey named Guangming, which soon fell into ruin again. During the Qiandao era of our present dynasty, two practitioners, the Daoist master Deng Shiyong and the Daoist Huang Shouzheng, generated the resolve to clear the mountain; they felled timber, cleared weeds, and solicited donations from virtuous and worthy persons to newly erect hall buildings. Prayers for rain and averting calamities both met with efficacious response. Rustic recluses live in hermitages here, once again according with the transformative influence of the Dao.
