Fifteen li west of the Temple. Originally called Shangyan Monastery. In the Dazhong Xiangfu era, the name Nengren was bestowed in change. The scenery is extraordinary: torrents gush and splash, stone steps are steep and precipitous, and dense woods shine with luster, losing sight of one another from front to back. Facing it is a huge rock shaped like a screen. The ancient foundation of the study of Wei Yin of the Tang still survives; rustic recluses have repeatedly dwelt there. The stūpa of the Gleaning Monk is located here. A poem on Nengren by a monk of Xiang says: 'The monastery lies within layered clouds; / In deep autumn, dreams grow ever more wearying. / Before the balustrade, twin torrents rush; / Outside the gate, a solitary peak stands tall. / Valley birds play fresh melodies; / Crag pines stir evening waves. / When shall I shake out my robes and depart, / Pillowing my head to listen to the rustling wind?'
