Three li west of the temple, located below the south of Tianzhu Peak. It was built during the Tianbao era of the Tang. When the Ma family occupied Huxiang, they renovated it again. In the Tiansheng era of our present dynasty, imperial sanction was obtained to repair it once more. Before and after this, it was only called the Wei Pavilion. During the Jingyou era, the six characters "Pavilion of the Primal Sovereign of Purple Emptiness" (Zixu Yuanjun Zhi Ge) were bestowed as its plaque, along with the bestowal of ceremonial robes and money, and fields were purchased to support the Daoist congregation. Later, in the fifth year of the Zhenghe era, its name was changed by imperial grant to Huangting Abbey. Below the pavilion there is a stone altar, over a zhang wide, named the Flying Current Altar. The ancient record says that the Lady of old rode it flying here to Xiangzhong from Fuzhou. The record states that the altar is over a zhang high, and was formerly the resting place of the Primal Sovereign's whirlwind carriage. Celestial Master Du's Shiyi states: "The Lady's altar is a giant stone over a zhang square. Its top is broad and round, while its bottom is pointed and hovering, resting upon another rock. Whenever a single person tests it by pushing with a hand, it immediately moves; but if many people exert their strength, it stands completely motionless. When visitors arrive, thoroughly clean themselves, and burn incense, lightly touching it with a single finger makes it tremble slightly." Today in the mountains of Fuzhou there is a cave whose depth and width match the shape of this stone. Some say that the Primal Sovereign of Solitary Stillness, Magu, escorted the Lady here riding on clouds, and the cloud fell and transformed into stone. Another account says that the Magu Stone is on the mountain west of the abbey. According to the Esoteric Biography: "The Lady's surname was Wei, her taboo name was Huacun, and her courtesy name was Xian'an. She was a native of Rencheng, the daughter of Wei Shu, Vice Director of the Left under Emperor Wu of the Jin. She was enfeoffed with the office of Upper Perfected Controller of Destinies and Primal Sovereign of Purple Emptiness, and was additionally granted an enfeoffment over famous mountains with a rank equal to feudal lords. The Great Immortal Magu, Primal Sovereign of Solitary Stillness, served as her assistant in governance." Today on the pavilion there is also an image of Magu, placed side by side with the Lady. In the fourth year of the Xianhe era of the Jin, the Primal Sovereign of the Great One rode a whirlwind carriage to welcome her as she ascended to heaven. She had over one hundred fascicles of numinous texts and secret essentials, which were hidden in a stone cliff at Longzhen Stream; today it is called the Numinous Writings Cliff. At that time, an old man surnamed Pang bowed and made a request: "I wish to guard the numinous altar and be permitted to listen to the Dharma teachings." The Great Immortal scolded him: "Stinking and foul beast, would you bring pestilence to the people of this realm?" She took her sword to strike him down, and he fled and hid in the western stream. Today it is the Longzhen Cave. During the Kaibao era of our present dynasty, the pavilion master, the Daoist Master Shuai Zilian, attained the Dao and achieved deliverance by corpse. The details are in the fascicle below.
