辱告。伏見勅答臣下審神滅論。盛旨窮機微言合道。生知出六儒之首。自然該十聖之外。至如感果之規理照三世。孝饗之範義貫百王。妙會與春氷等釋。至趣若秋旻共朗。足使調闡變情。桀跖移志。反澆風於遂古。振淳波乎方冊。英聲茂實粵不可尚。法師精理之秀擅高日下。俱沐聖化獨遊神明。深鑒道蘊洞識宗塗。弟子昔聞師說悟太傅之旨。今偶昌時奉不滅之訓。信以照晢吝蒙紓洗塵。蓋足蹈手舞言象豈能勝。張翻和南。

I was humbled by your letter. I have respectfully seen the imperial decree replying to the ministers' inquiry on the treatise on the extinction of the spirit. Its magnificent intention exhausts the subtleties, and its fine words accord with the Dao. His innate knowledge stands at the head of the six Confucians; his natural realization extends beyond the ten sages. As for the principle of retributive fruition, its logic illuminates the three times; the model of filial sacrifices, its meaning pervades the hundred kings. The sublime synthesis dissolves doubts like spring ice; the supreme purport is as clear as the autumn sky. It suffices to make Devadatta and icchantikas change their feelings, and Jie and Zhi alter their intentions, turning the frivolous manners back to high antiquity and rousing pure ripples in the historical records. His brilliant fame and flourishing achievements cannot be surpassed! The Dharma Master's excellence in subtle principles stands supreme under the sun. Together bathed in the sagely transformation, you alone roam in the spirit. Deeply perceiving the store of the Dao, you thoroughly understand the fundamental path. In the past, having heard my teacher's explanation, I understood the Grand Tutor's intention; today, encountering this flourishing era, I receive the instruction of non-extinction. Truly it is brilliant and clear, wiping away ignorance and washing clean the dust. Indeed, my feet dance and my hands wave, beyond what words and images can convey. Zhang Fan pays veneration.
