辱告伏覽。勅答臣下神滅論。旨高義博。照若發蒙。弟子夙奉釋教。練服舊聞有自來矣。非唯雷同遠大贊激天旨而已。且垂答二解。厭伏心靈。藻燭聞見。更不知何以闡揚玄猷光彰聖述。且得罔象不溷於其真。內外無紛如之滯。寔懷嘉抃猥承末示。佩眷唯深。王志和南。

I am honoured by your message and have prostrated to examine the imperial reply to his ministers on the Treatise on the Extinction of the Spirit. Its purport is lofty and its principles are vast, illuminating as if banishing darkness. I have long revered the Buddha's teaching and practiced what I had learned of old, which has its own history; it is not merely echoing what is distant and great to flatter the heavenly intention. Furthermore, the two explanations deigned in the reply subdue the mind and illuminate what is heard and seen. I know not how else to expound the mysterious way and glorify the sage's exposition. Moreover, it prevents empty illusions from confounding the true, and the internal and external remain free of entangled obstructions. I truly harbor joyful praise; condescendingly favored with your transmission, my gratitude is exceedingly deep. Wang Zhi bows with folded hands.
