天旨所答臣下神滅論。一日粗蒙垂示。辱告重送伏加研讀。窮理盡寂精義入神。文義兼明超深俗表。仰詳三世皎若發蒙。非直謹加誦持。輒令斑之未悟。惠示承眷至。弟子徐勉和南。

The heavenly purport replying to his ministers on the Treatise on the Extinction of the Spirit was roughly shown to me the other day. I am honoured by your message sending it again, and have prostrated to study it with care. It exhausts principles and penetrates silence; its refined meaning enters the spiritual realm. Its phrasing and meaning are both luminous, transcending far beyond the secular realm. Respectfully examining the three times, it is as clear as dispersing benightedness. Not only do I reverently recite and uphold it, I shall promptly have it distributed to the unenlightened. Having been favored with your kind regard, Disciple Xu Mian bows with folded hands.
