I have received the imperial edict replying to the Treatise on the Extinction of the Spirit which you sent. Prostrating, I examined its profound purport: the principle is subtle and the diction consummate. The ways of the two teachings harmonize in our present era, and the three times serve as pillars and beams today. It is sufficient to cause those who have lost their way to turn back on their own, and the wondrous destination to shine even brighter.
