I am honoured by your letter and have seen the imperial decree answering the ministers to clarify the treatise on the extinction of the spirit. Respectfully unfurling the plain silk and gazing up at this profound discourse, its phrasing runs through the Shao and the Xia, its meaning plumbs the hexagram lines and the Appended Remarks. It embraces the canonical scriptures and encompasses literary compositions; it promotes the correct teaching and records it upon bamboo tablets. Vast, subtle, and eminent, it is rare to hear. Weighing the sages and worthies, it dissects hairsbreadths; bridging the paths of the inner and outer, its discourse transcends the boundary between humans and devas. If one did not embody this supreme virtue and commune in thought with the spirit, how could one deeply illuminate the essential Dao and make people aspire to it? I have respectfully inscribed it on my sash, to wear it forever as an ornament. How refreshing once it enters; it illuminates as if dispelling ignorance. Recently, I have made a visit to discourse and discuss it together. Presented with a bow by your disciple Liu Qia.
