辱告惠示。勅答臣下審神滅論。竊聞語曰。萬物紛糺則懸諸天象。眾言𫾼舛則折乎聖理。昭自古事蔚在茲辰。伏尋叡訓。垂文義深陶鑄稱象。匪臻希微孰識綸幽至極。盡性窮神愍斯六蔽。哀此四執黜小言之亂道。拯徑行於夷路。旨肆而隱義婉而章。博約載弘廣大悉備。一音半偈顯茲悟拔。慧日正水盪此塵迷。俾宗奧有歸教思攸在。異端自杜誣善知息。凝繫表於繩初。導禪流於苦海。豈伊含孕三藏。冠冕七籍而已哉。弟子幸邀至運側承格誘。沐流歡擊奉以書紳。謝舉白。

I am honoured by your letter and by your showing the imperial decree answering the ministers to clarify the treatise on the extinction of the spirit. I have heard the saying: 'When the myriad things are tangled, they are suspended in the heavenly bodies; when various discourses are contradictory, they are arbitrated by sagely principle.' This has been manifest from ancient times, and is glorious on this day. Respectfully examining the sagacious instruction, the text is deep in meaning, moulding and conforming to images; without reaching the subtle and infinitesimal, who could know the ultimate depth of the silken threads? Exhausting nature and plumbing the spirit, it pities these six obscurations and laments these four attachments, banishing petty talk that disrupts the Dao and rescuing those walking along tracks to the level road. Its purport is unrestrained yet hidden, its meaning gentle yet brilliant. Broad and concise, it is widely promoted; vast and great, it is completely prepared. A single sound and half a gāthā reveal this awakening and deliverance; the sun of wisdom and the water of correctness cleanse away this dusty confusion, causing the profound doctrines to have their return and the thoughts of teaching to abide. Heterodox branches are naturally blocked, and slanderers of goodness cease. It concentrates beyond the hexagrams at the origin of knotted cords, and guides the stream of dhyāna in the ocean of suffering. How could it merely conceive the three baskets and crown the seven classics? I, your disciple, have been fortunate to meet this supreme fortune and indirectly receive this exemplary guidance; bathing in the stream with joyful applause, I respectfully write it on my sash.
