11.32

別以數旬。旋有思想。漸暖比自何如。小虜遠舉更無處分。正有憒然耳。萬事之殷。須才以理之。近詔道恒等令釋羅漢之服尋菩薩之跡。想當盤桓耳。道無不在法師可勸進之。苟廢其尋道之心。亦何必須爾也。致意遷上人。別來何似。不審䂮統復何如。多事不能一二為書。恒等亦何煩。諸上人勸其令造菩薩行。

We have been separated for several ten-day periods, and thoughts of you constantly return. As it gradually warms, how have you been lately? The minor bandits have launched a distant expedition, and there are no other dispositions to make; there is merely vexation. Amidst the press of myriad affairs, talent is needed to manage them. Recently I issued an edict to Daobiao and the others ordering them to shed the robes of the arhat and pursue the tracks of the bodhisattva; I imagine they must be hesitating. The Dao is nowhere absent; the Dharma Master may encourage them forward. If they were to abandon their intention of seeking the Dao, why would this be necessary? Please convey my regards to the Venerable Qian; how has he been since we parted? I wonder how the Controller Zhao is doing as well? Being busy with many affairs, I cannot write to each individually. Why must Heng and the others be troubled? You Venerables should encourage them to undertake the bodhisattva practices.
