6.20

正曰。既教有方圓豈覩其同。夫由佛者固可以權老。學老者安取同佛。苟挾競慕高撰會雜。妄欲因其同樹邪去正。是乃學非其學。自漏道蠧祇多不量。見恥守器矣。

Rectification: Since the teachings have the square and the round, how can one see them as identical? One who follows the Buddha may certainly take Laozi as an expedient, but how can one who studies Laozi claim identity with the Buddha? If, harboring rivalry and admiring the high, one compiles and confounds them, wildly attempting to use their identity to establish the heterodox and discard the orthodox, this is studying what is not proper study, letting oneself leak into a pest of the Dao; it is merely an excess of failing to measure oneself, showing oneself to be shameful by clinging to a rigid vessel.
