Zhou's inquiry: The treatise says, 'Because the times differed, their styles were not the same,' which means Buddhist teachings differ from the Dao. 'Because eras differed, their meanings were not unified,' which means the words of the Dao run contrary to the Buddha. When the Dao and the Buddha are both different, then one is a duck and the other is a swallow.
