6.62

答彼周曰。吾乃自元混百聖同投一極。而近論通源儒不在議。足下今極其儒。當欲列儒圍道。故先屬垣耳隙思潛師。夜以遂圖掩天城。恐難升之險非子所躋。則吾見師之出不見其入也。吾已謂百聖同所投。何容本末俱其異。更以歷勢倒兵。恣卿智勇。吾之勇智自縱橫湊出。

Replying to Zhou: From the primordial chaos onward, the hundred sages all converged on a single ultimate. But in my recent discussion on penetrating the source, the Confucians were not part of the deliberation. Now you push the Confucians to their limit, wishing to line up Confucians to besiege the Dao; therefore, first eavesdropping through cracks in the wall, you think to secretly dispatch an army and, under cover of night, attempt to capture the celestial city. I fear that this impassable precipice is not something you can scale; thus I see the army go out, but do not see it return. I have already said that the hundred sages converge on the same destination; how could their origin and branches both be different? If you would reverse your weapons to test my strength, I leave it to your wisdom and courage; my own courage and wisdom will spontaneously pour forth in all directions.
