6.70

周之問曰。甚如來言吾亦慮其未極也。此所謂得在於神靜。失在於物虛。若謂靜於其靜非曰窮靜。魄於其魄不云盡魄。吾所許也。無所間然。

Zhou's inquiry: It is very much as your incoming letter says; yet I also worry that it has not reached the ultimate. This is what is meant by 'the gain lies in spiritual stillness, while the loss lies in the emptiness of things.' If you mean that he was still in his stillness, that is not called exhausting stillness; if his po-soul was in its soul, that is not called exhausting the soul. This I grant; there is no discrepancy here.
