6.73

通源曰。非鳧則乙跡固然矣跡固其然。吾不復答。又曰。吾與老釋相識正如此。正復是目擊道斯存。又曰。得意有本何至取教。又曰。誠哉有是言。吾所以見道來一於佛。

Tongyuan said: "If it is not a wild duck, then it is a swallow: the traces are certainly thus; the traces are certainly thus, so I shall not answer further." He also said: "My acquaintance with Laozi and the Buddha is precisely like this. It is truly once more a case of 'the Dao is present the moment the eyes encounter it.'" He also said: "Grasping the meaning has its root; why should one go so far as to take up doctrines?" He also said: "Truly, these words are correct. This is why I see the Dao arriving at one with the Buddha."
